I’ve always felt a little intimidated by maxi dresses and skirts. I know many people find them to be comfy and an easy “throw on and go” outfit, but I never know when and where to wear them and was always a bit put off by them. When I found this Lilly Pulitzer Maxi Skirt for a great deal, I figured it was the perfect chance to give one a try!
It ended up being the perfect outfit for lunch and a little window shopping: totally comfortable and put together! I didn’t get too creative with my styling: just an easy navy tank, but I think next time I might try it with a tied-front button down.
Had to throw in my “pretending to be a fashion blogger” shot…I’m definitely not 😛

Are you a fan of maxi dresses and skirts? How do you like to style them?
Can you believe it’s May already?! I’m pretty excited for the Kentucky Derby tomorrow, I love watching all the stories leading up to it, and of course the outfits are always awesome!! Attending has been on my bucket list for a long time, so maybe next year!
Thing I bought: Summer Lilly is always my favorite, and this year is no exception! I snatched up these Pop Pop Buttercup Shorts right away, because the yearly Fourth of July print tends to go quickly, and I just love these!!
For the Home: I mentioned my awesome new Pineapple Cookie Jar last week, but had to share these Flamingo Measuring Cups and Spoons I also got at World Market. I used them Sunday to make some flourless peanut butter cookies (which were somewhat disappointing, so still on the hunt for the perfect recipe!).
Still Obsessed with Pineapple: Sunday we had a pool day at my in-laws, so we stopped at Target intending to get the Flamingo Pool Float. My app said there were 4 in stock, but of course I get there to find that they were totally out. Luckily I spotted this Pineapple Float and headed to the register…only to get behind a woman that was buying ALL the flamingos!! She seriously had $250 worth of pool floats she was buying..what the heck!! I think it ended up being a good thing though because the pineapple is totally awesome..but it just barely fit in my car to take it home. The flamingo would have been IMPOSSIBLE! Also, I’m pretty sure the giant flamingo head could be a nuisance. So overall a win, especially since it matched my coverup 😉
In the Kitchen: My in-laws whipped up an awesome lunch while we were over, complete with fresh sangria and strawberry shortcake. I don’t know why I never think to make this because it’s so easy and so good! Especially when you toast the pound cake in a little butter first! 😀
Charlie Pic: Just waiting on someone to drop something in the kitchen…
I was a Hospitality Major in college and since pineapples are the symbol of hospitality, I have been a fan for quite awhile now. Pineapples have become crazy popular lately and I am loving it! If you love pineapples as much as me, you need to add these to your wishlist, stat! There’s even an amazing dupe for the super popular Lilly Pulitzer Pineapple Tassel necklace I shared last week (that sold out in just a few weeks!).
Lilly Pulitzer Flamenco Tassel Necklace
Clockwise: Gold Pineapple Throw Pillow (have it and LOVE it!) // Gold Pineapple Classic Toms (at the top of my wishlist!) // Racerback Tank Dress // Pineapple Trinket Dish // Beach Towel // Pineapple Embroidered Dress // Pineapple Tassel Necklace (under $40!) // Pineapple Earrings // Phone Case // Straw Tote
Are you loving the pineapple trend as much as me?? Well just in case, here are even more…aren’t those sandals TDF?!
This years Easter Brunch was a great success!! I didn’t do a great job of taking pictures (somehow missed getting one of the food spread), but I did manage to get a few! I wore one of my favorite Lilly dresses in Peel n Eat and we all had plenty of mimosas, of course 😉
I kept the table decor simple. Hydrangeas were on sale, so of course I could not pass those up! This table runner is from the Pioneer Woman line at Walmart..I had my heart set on gingham and this was the only thing I could find, but it was perfect!
The star of the show though…the coconut cream pie! I’m not going to lie, it might just be the best pie I’ve ever had!! I’ll be sharing the recipe tomorrow and I’m already trying to find an excuse to make it again!
Even Charlie had a great time! He’s usually shy as can be, but was so excited to have guests over who were all willing to give him lots of love and attention!
Hope you had a wonderful Easter!
Lilly Pulitzer’s Spring collection came out earlier, so of course I’ve already started my wishlist! I really love some of the prints and styles, but I don’t think there is anything that I really HAVE to have right now…which is probably for the best, since I’ve seen pics of some of the summer stuff and I need to start saving now! Here are some of the items on my wishlist, that I might have to pick up during a gwp or if there’s a sale:
– I LOVE the lace detail on this dress as well as the pink and green print!
If there’s anything I give in and buy, this will definitely be first!
– I need more blazers, and this would definitely be a wonderful addition to my closet!
So gorgeous and would go with so much!
What are your Spring favorites? Anything on your must buy list or are you saving up?
I found the last, lonely sign of Christmas hiding in the back of the fridge.
We spent a gorgeous day at the park, and rented a “Deuce Coupe” to explore in..it was
totally unplanned, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have worn a skirt….
These wedges were the first of my Lilly Pulitzer packages to come in, and I’m obsessed!
I also got this bag, which I looooove! I kinda have a thing for pineapples..
I found this adorable mug at target and HAD to have it!
I was a bit of a Instagram slacker this week…or maybe I didn’t do much that was Instagram worthy?
What were the highlights of your week..anything Instagram worthy?
This Anchor Top from Target
I have a bad habit of wandering through the clothes section at Target and coming accross things I don’t need…but I think this was SO necessary!!
Lost Coast Strawberry Wheat
I tried this for the first time when we stopped into World of Beer a few days ago and it is SO good! I hope this sticks around for awhile because it would be perfect for a hot sunny day!
My New Lilly Pulitzer Wedges
These came in the mail today and I’m obsesseddddd! I have a weakness for clothing with nautical details, so the seashell motif will fit right in!
Temple Citrus Grove Florida Orange Salad Dressing
I picked this up at a local citrus stand and it is ahhhh-mazing! I made a salad with chicken, clementines, and dried cranberries, and this was the perfect way to top it off! Plus it’s local!
Downton Abbey Season 2
No, I don’t mean Season 3, I haven’t quite gotten there yet! I watched the first season on Netflix a few months ago, but of course Season 2 wasn’t available then. Now that everyone is talking about the third season I feel out of the loop, so I gave in and got HuluPlus to watch….I might even finish the season before the free week trial is over! 😉
Did you watch the Season Premiere of Downton Abbey?
I’m a bit weird about eating oatmeal, but after seeing overnight oats popping up seemingly everywhere, I felt like I needed to give them a try. When I came across a recipe for Chocolate Cake Batter Overnight Oats I knew it would be the perfect recipe to start with!
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup milk of choice
- 1/2 ripe banana
- 1/2 tbsp. chia seeds
- 1/2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients in your container of choice and refrigerate overnight.
Delicious and very filling! I had these at about 5:30 this morning, and made it til lunch-time without wanting to eat my eat/needing a snack, although I did start feeling hungry around 11. I think I was most hesitant about the fact that they were cold, but I loved it! Also love that they’re a little chewier than regular oatmeal, since the weird gloopiness is what sometimes turns me off to oatmeal. I think the best part of these, though, is the fact that I can make them the night before, so that when 5:30am rolls around, I don’t have to think about breakfast.

I couldn’t wait to get home from work today because I had gotten the oh so exciting “out for delivery” message from fedex! Last week Lilly Pulitzer had a huge sale and I just happened to have a gift card from my birthday, so I may have went a liiiiittle crazy….Things go fast, so I submitted my orders as soon as I found something I like, which of course means I have many packages coming…
I just had to share the cuteness that is this Lilly Pulitzer mailer! I’ll be sure to share purchase pics when everything comes in! 🙂
Do you have a favorite recipe for overnight oats to add to my to try list?
